Since efficient avoidance of airborne - and often hidden - food allergens is not possible, allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is the only causative treatment with the goal of inducing allergen tolerance in affected individuals. Efficacy as well as safety of AIT significantly depends on how the allergen is presented to the immune system, meaning both the route and the form of its application. Here, new ways of allergen administration have lately been explored, some of which are auspicious candidates for successful implementation in the therapeutic management of immediate-type allergies. While the first oral AIT has been approved recently by the FDA for the treatment of peanut allergy, further interesting routes of allergen application include either epicutaneous, intradermal, intranasal, or intralymphatic delivery. Besides, rather the immunologically relevant peptides instead of whole allergen may be administered to develop tolerance. In this chapter, we will describe these new and promising avenues of allergen application in the field of AIT. In addition, we will discuss their potential for future treatment of IgE-mediated allergic diseases enhancing therapeutic efficiency while further minimizing the risks of adverse events.On rare occasions, fractures of the tibial plateau may occur after uni-compartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) and account for 2% of total UKA failures. Split fractures require internal fixation, while subsidence fractures differ in their management depending of the amount of bone impaction. Loose implants require revision knee arthroplasty.

Better knowledge of the multifactorial risk factors in association with a thorough surgical technique is key for prevention.Some patients with the compression of the celiac trunk by the median arcuate ligament (MAL) suffer pancreatic artery aneurysms (PAAs) due to excessive blood flow from the superior mesenteric artery. These aneurysms are in peril because they are prone to rupture irrespective of size. Here, we present two cases of resection and reconstruction of PAAs caused by the compression of the celiac trunk by the MAL.
Patient 1 was a 44-year-old man who was first diagnosed to have a visceral artery aneurysm with a diameter of 4cm accidentally found by ultrasound examination at a regular medical check-up. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed the compression of the celiac trunk by the MAL and a PAA originating from the first jejunal artery. First, laparoscopic excision of the MAL followed by a stent placement into the celiac trunk was performed. Although the stent was patent, the PAA still grew. The patient underwent resection and reconstruction of the PAA. Reconstruction of the pancreatic arterial arcade was needed because clAAs caused by the compression of the celiac trunk by the MAL in order to prevent catastrophic aneurysm rupture.

A field experiment in succulent halophyte, Carex, and gramineous grass habitats in Ordos, Inner Mongolia (northwest China) was conducted to study the diversity and composition of plants in different saline habitats in inland salt marsh ecosystems. Results showed that plant diversity and species richness in the Carex habitat were significantly higher than the succulent halophyte habitat and the gramineous grass habitat (P? less then ?0.05). Further, species abundance was higher in the succulent halophyte habitat and the Carex habitat than the gramineous grass habitat. Similar results were obtained when considering the abundance of constructive species.
